I have a passion for authentic urban spaces that bring people closer to each other and their environment. My multi-disciplinary/generalist background has helped me develop a rigorous process based on art, design thinking, research, and collaboration. I’m in my element during the early stages of a project when information is gathered and synthesized into a strong building concept. As a designer, my responsibility is to always adapt to changing constraints as the project moves forward, and find ways to deliver the needs of the client and users through the completed design. I believe strongly that dense, livable cities are a key ingredient to a sustainable future, and it is our challenge, as architects and designers to usher our communities towards a more progressive and more responsible standard.
Ankrom Moisan Architects, Portland, OR, US, Associate - Project Designer
I have been involved in all phases of design on a number of multifamily residential projects, urban design, feasibility studies, DAR/DR presentations, and most notably, as lead designer on The Creative Center for the Arts; a non-profit cultural incubator in San Jose, CA. I’ve gained a lot of great experience at AMA where I have emerged as a design leader within my studio. I’ve become a go-to resource in design charrettes throughout the firm; mentored junior staff through design and documentation; presented and communicated with clients, and coordinated with consultants at all phases of design. My work involves the use of digital and traditional design tools. I think with a pen and paper, which I believe is an architects most valuable tool. Whenever I get stuck on a design problem, I usually find the answer when I back up and work it out in a hand sketch. I am also an expert level SketchUp user, and I have a passion for artful, non-photo realistic (post-digital) renderings as an effective way to communicate ideas and guide design conversations.
