As part of the Friend Cultures International Fair FICA, an event that takes place in Mexico City, Estudio MMX made this temporary installation to house the different exhibitions. It was done at the “zocalo” the city´s mayor square located in the historical center. Their proposal emanated from the analysis of the surrounding buildings, but most of all the flows and movement in this enormous esplanade.
The design establishes plans that allow distributing the visitors flow so that they can appreciate all the diversity of the fair without closing the structure to the context. The model achieves opening towards all buildings with a radial arrangement of the sheds, providing shade and subdivisions.
The great challenge was coordinating with multiple agencies and government levels the organization that made possible to assemble the structures of scaffolding and textiles in 48 hours. The logistics and methodology success resulted in enough flexibility so that all the teams could work for the exhibitors to have their spaces in time and ready for the inauguration.
