My name is Esteban Calderon; I am from Bogotá, Colombia.
My life has been from the beginning surrounded by love, art, and numbers.
I grew up in a close-knit family that gave me the opportunity to express my passions and creativity freely. My mother taught me from an early age to develop my artistic skills especially in the field of painting and sculpture. My father, a doctor passionate for arts, music, history, geometry and mathematics, was always present in this development as well.
All these elements allowed me to have a comprehensive and creative education. Since childhood, the interest in visual arts was present, but it was not until my adolescence, when my family moved to Santiago, Chile,
that I studied in an arts school. It was in this environment that my knowledge and hobbies expanded.
Upon returning to my country I finished high school with awards in physics and mathematics. I believe this is due to the close relationship I have with my grandfather, a great Latin American physicist who lives a few blocks from my house, and who taught me another perspective of events that occur in space and matter. Thus my inclination for the architecture of both interiors and exteriors strengthened. It was at this stage of my life when I decided to travel to France and Italy to explore that artistic dream. I decided to study interior design and space intervention at the Canadian University LaSalle College International, in Bogota, Colombia.
This period was very rewarding and prepared me to take on new roles in the design landscape. My thesis was an urban project for young unrecognized artists, which received high approval from the thesis committee.
After completing my academic requirements and graduating, I traveled to New York to pursue a professional future. I had the opportunity to do an internship in an architecture company, where I completed and edited the layout for the client`s projects. Further on, I found another internship more focused on interior design; in this place I was fortunate to interact with clients, helping and advising in a professional way.
At the present moment I am able and eager to further develop all the tools and skills which I have cultivated in design. I hope to work with a professional team and to contribute my talents to benefit both a company and it's clients.
