Emmy Maruta is a Southern California based designer and architect in training. Currently she is living, working, and playing in Helsinki as a design researcher at Aalto University Digital Design Laboratory, ADD.
Operating within, around and adjacent to architecture, Emmy’s portfolio includes a variety of work based on digital design and fabrication. Her work ranges from architecture, industrial design and art commissions.
While working at ADD Emmy has been able to participate in aiding in several workshops including a grasshopper course with Robbie Eleazer, processing workshop with Roland Snooks and Staubli collaborative robotics primer with Brandon Kruysman and Jonathan Proto.
In 2012, Emmy graduated with distinction from the Southern California Institute of Architecture and completed her thesis titled “Soft Boiled” under the advisement of Florencia Pita.
Offices that she has been fortunate enough to work with include: XTEN Architecture, Tighe Architecture, FPMOD, IDEA Office, M-Rad, and Rossetti.
