A relocated 1930’s bungalow on a pastoral country site outside of Baton Rouge requires a major renovation and an addition. A new master suite, contemporary in scale, needs to be added; outdated porches need to be expanded; too small rooms need to be opened up to create views to the wonderful landscape; and new yards need to be framed by all of the additions and renovations. Pecan demands surgeon’s precision as it was already a house that had gone through multiple modifications and adaptations. Constructed of durable materials and strong bones, this renovated home developed as walls were torn down, details exposed, and construction began. Inside space was opened to create grand living spaces and outside, the multiple forms, both old and new, were designed to create a harmonious estate. Upon completion, the 1000 s.f. addition transforms this bungalow into the retreat the busy owners need and the country holiday/weekend getaway their growing family desires.
