Nestled in the captivating Sonoran Desert, this residence embodies a couple's dream of a retreat. After relocating numerous times and nurturing a growing family, they settled on a plot with hopes of creating not just a home, but a gathering place. Elias Braun Architecture turned their vision into reality, designing a haven of tranquility and family unity.
The topography posed a challenge, requiring seamless integration of elevation changes and natural drainage. The architecture harmoniously complements the environment, with an understated structure framing stunning views. Creative engineering eliminated corner columns, enabling unobstructed vistas through expansive 4-meter windows.
An imposing 5-meter door welcomes visitors into the 4-meter high interior space. The layout combines privacy and communal areas, anchored by a central lounge. The infinity pool with an overflowing jacuzzi commands attention, visible from various vantage points. The design ingeniously ensures panoramic views without compromising privacy through well-designed internal connectors.
The landscape inspired tiered recreational areas, including a heated pool with a jacuzzi and hydrotherapy features. A covered terrace shades the pool and bar area, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor spaces. A submerged space with a fire pit complements the pool's overflow, offering serene evenings around the fire. The expansive backyard beckons outdoor activities.
The guest house, accessible via the central courtyard, provides private accommodation for relatives. Materials were chosen to complement the surroundings, with travertine, wood, and steel creating a warm contrast. Native vegetation, stones, and strategic lighting enhance the project's aesthetic.
This spacious residence, designed for Hermosillo, Sonora, embodies contemporary architecture. The project seamlessly combines the simplicity of rectilinear forms with carefully selected materials, resulting in an architectural masterpiece that pays homage to both design and nature. This seamless integration harmonizes with the Sonoran Desert, encapsulating the aspirations of its owners while embracing the essence of unity and serenity.
