I am currently in my final year of a 5 year Masters of Architecture program at Tulane University and I will be graduating in May. I have experience working with construction documents, at all design phases, and on projects that range from urban infill mixed-use buildings to large-scale urban planning along canals. My work experience includes an internship with Kirksey, a Houston architecture firm that is a leader in sustainable design in Texas. Working with Kirksey provided me with experience in post-occupancy evaluations, schematic design, and construction documents. I was also able to work with Green Coast Enterprises, a firm that aims to revitalize communities along the Gulf Coast that have been devastated by climate change. I helped with the construction management and design of houses to help bring families back to their homes and their communities. Lastly, my position as a lab technician at the Tulane’s CNC has offered me the opportunity to increase my knowledge of digital fabrication and materiality.
In addition to architecture, I have a focus in environmental science. This interest has led me to pursue a LEED Green Associates certification. I have a good understanding of the complex relationship between biological communities, their natural environment, and the built environment. The many courses I have taken in the environmental science department has given me a different perspective of cities and their inhabitants. Learning about the unique environmental significance of the New Orleans area has helped me to design with a holistic approach that considers historical, cultural, and ecological factors.
I am looking for a position that will not only help me develop as an architect at the building scale but also at the urban scale. I have strong desire to create designs that are innovative and sensitive to all design considerations.
