The Concept Design effort for the Dena'ina Wellness Center (DWC) is the culmination of a long and comprehensive planning process by the Kenaitze Indian Tribe (KIT).
The Dena'ina Wellness Center is a 52,000 s.f. health center to be located in Old Town Kenai, Alaska. It will be owned and operated by the Kenaitze Indian Tribe, a federally recognized sovereign independent nation under the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934, as amended for Alaska in 1936. The tribe is responsible for the social welfare of its 1,311 Tribal Members and serves approximately 3,030 Alaska Native/American Indian residents of the central Kenai Peninsula communities of Kenai, Soldotna, Sterling, Nikiski, Salamatof, Coho and surrounding areas stretching approximately 15,000 square miles. It also, through its health programs provides general counseling and mental health services to an increasing number of non-tribal recipients.
