Chestnut Residences

This new 4-story, ground-up building is a 3-unit multi-family condominium building located on Chestnut Street in the Marina district of San Francisco.

The four-story building relates in scale to the existing context of the neighborhood but is set in contrast with the prevailing Marina style buildings common in the area. Designed with contemporary detailing in mind, the front facade consists of cement board panel rain screen cladding and floor-to-ceiling operable glass windows and doors to allow for ample light and ventilation to the residential units above.

With ample glazing, the interior units are bathed in light and have a refined material pallet of white walls, wide-plank oak flooring and natural stone throughout the bathrooms. Careful consideration was paid to the lighting design and museum-like track lighting was deployed throughout provide a gallery-like atmosphere to all of the units.

Sustainability was also considered as part of the design as this project seeks to gain a LEED Platinum rating through the use of durable and environmentally friendly materials, energy efficiency and photovoltaic solar panels, and rain and surface water management.
