This project was designed over two semesters for my senior thesis at the University of Arizona. The first semester was spent researching and developing an "architectural position". My position, in short, states that in order to maximize an urban center's potential it is essential to develop the "in between" spaces that are underutilized, overlooked, or devoid of any use.
This project was situated along the periphery of the urban core of Detroit. The site, situated between a highway and railway, is located at a point where residential, commercial, and industrial intersect. The goal of the project was to create something that would not only provide a work training center, but also provide an area for visitors and people within the surrounding context to enjoy.
