On October 28, an audience of 500 voted Dekker/Perich/Sabatini design firm as the winner of NAIOP’s National Office of the Future Competition. NAIOP reviewed submittals from across the country, and ultimately invited three design firms, including Dekker/Perich/Sabatini (D/P/S), to present their concepts at Development ’14 in Denver, CO. Dekker/Perich/Sabatini walked away with the most votes at the conference and is the grand winner.
For their concept, Dekker/Perich/Sabatini (D/P/S) interviewed workers ages 35 and younger. Then the team, led by D/P/S Director Emily Allen, developed the research into an office design for up-and-coming generations.
“Our research indicates that today’s workers value choice, and they seek opportunities to collaborate, contribute meaningful work and have fun,” said Emily Allen, Director / Licensed Interior Designer at Dekker/Perich/Sabatini. “When we looked at these values more closely, we realized they’re not new. These attitudes and needs span generations. So we designed a workplace that meets these fundamental needs, and created a concept that will serve people today and in the future.”
D/P/S’s winning design repurposes existing office buildings – a sustainable approach to community growth – and creates modern workplaces that improve the employee experience. Rich amenities, walking paths, vegetable gardens, day care, grocery and other in-building services promote wellness and support a micro-community within a larger city.
