National Engineering News-Record Awards Celebrated in New York City
The Albuquerque Convention Center underwent a $23.2 million renovation in 2015, and the success of its transformation has been recognized as a Best of the Best Projects winner by Engineering News-Record (ENR), a national publication providing engineering and construction news. ENR announced the Convention Center as the winner in the renovation and restoration category.
The Albuquerque Convention Center is one of just 20 winners out of nearly 750 total submissions. Winners of Best of the Best Projects highlight design and construction achievements throughout the U.S. All winning projects were honored in New York City in conjunction with ENR’s Award of Excellence celebration on April 7-8. The award was presented to the City of Albuquerque, lead design firm Dekker/Perich/Sabatini, contractors Bradbury Stamm and Gerald Martin, engineering firms Bohannan Huston and Bridgers & Paxton and subcontractors JettWalker and Balis & Co.
The Albuquerque Convention Center renovation provided a new kitchen and supporting service areas, a remodeled ballroom with new exterior balcony, a new main entrance fronting the City’s Civic Plaza, and new finishes, lighting and signage throughout the Center.
