Light: Fragmented

This proposed entity, located east of Lattie F. Coor Hall at ASU’s Tempe Campus, is an architectural representation of the relentless cycles of time and patterns of nature. By fragmenting light, this inhabitable concrete block creates cyclical patterns of shadows that change daily and annually based on solar positioning. Comforting and terrifying, the patterns created remind us of our elemental connection to the cosmos and the inevitability of life as well as death.
