About

For nearly a decade, my professional experience has been marked by a number of varied and diverse experiences that have contributed to a deep understanding of the architectural process, across its many phases and through various capacities. Ranging from conceptual design of buildings and masterplans to developing both interior and exterior details for construction drawings, I have earned a well-rounded comprehension of the facets of our profession through design study, presentations, specifications, coordination, and construction administration. Although the large amount of my work has been local to the Mid-Atlantic region, I have also had the opportunity to contribute on projects in a number of American cities as well as on projects in the Middle East, Asia, and Europe. Additionally, I have worked on a broad range of project types, including education, research and development, mixed-use, commercial interiors, performing arts, college housing, and masterpla

I take pride in my work and that of my team’s, and strive to keep a unified and energized force that focuses on quality and accuracy. I am best known for my efficiency and precision. Much of this stems from a deep knowledge of Revit and other tools, an engrained understanding of buildings codes and accessible design (and excitement to research), and advocation for proper quality control and assurance procedures, among other driving elements. I have a particular passion for building enclosure design, study, and detailing as it relates to performance and craft, a product of my experience working with great mentors at leading firms. Furthermore, I also finds myself strongly attracted to the pull of urban strategy and development, and I bring these ambitions and insights to each team and project I am involved with.

Employment

Gensler, Philadelphia, PA, US, Architect

Primarily operating as a Project Architect while at Gensler, I worked closely with my teams and principals to deliver high quality projects and documentation, including bringing projects to completion, simultaneously developing multiple ongoing projects for a healthcare client, and even producing an accessibility report. My time with the Philadelphia team was marked by an emphasis on code evaluation and analysis in addition to design realization, pushing an understanding of quality control and assurance, and continuing an active role on providing expert Revit assistance to my colleagues.

This role greatly expanded my experience in several key areas, most primarily on the construction administration front with the delivery of a number of workplace projects with clients such as PREIT and Spencer Stuart, as well as for highly technical projects such as research facility for Facebook. A particular challenge was learning to navigate multiple, highly-demanding projects at the same time, with frequent travel.

Notable Projects include:

● PREIT Headquarters Relocation – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
● Facebook Reality Labs – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
● UUG Clinics and Surgery Centers – Various National Locations
● Entercom Headquarters Relocation – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Jacobs, Philadelphia, PA, US, Architect

I joined the team at Jacobs Engineering during the transition shortly after the acquisition of Kling Stubbins, providing an interesting view into two particular office and design cultures. My position delicately straddled both the design and technical sides of projects, as I was responsible for a wide range of tasks in regards to numerous project types and across various phases. Projects ranged from spec office buildings, masterplans, higher education, and data centers, with key roles spanning from leading the design and detailing efforts on a critical R&D facility, to traveling to Saudi Arabia to help lead our team there for local projects, to modeling a conceptual campus masterplan.

Jacobs provided me with numerous opportunities to truly participate in and understand the many facets of the design process and beyond, with in-house engineering offering deeper understanding of adjacent disciplines. These opportunities also enhanced my role of acting as a Revit lead for the architecture department and working closely with our technology team, my understanding and ability to research and analysis building codes, and begin to lead design and delegate tasks. My role, however, was defined by delivering design services for our research clients including DuPont de Nemours, ExxonMobil, Johnson & Johnson, Merck, and – most notably – Saudi Aramco, where a number of planning assignments and designs were completed across the Kingdom with my expertise.

All of this, while finishing my studies at Drexel University and becoming a registered architect.

Notable Projects include:

● University of Louisville, Belknap Campus East Site Visioning – Louisville, Kentucky
● King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Laboratory & Research Centers - Dhahran, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
● Saudi Aramco, Research & Development Center at KAUST - Thuwal, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
● Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation, Eastern Tower & Community Center - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Voith & Mactavish Architects LLP, Philadelphia, Architectural Designer

VMA provided me with a vast range of valuable experiences as a young architectural designer, including a series of surveys and design work for local private schools and spanning to my notable role on a small team for the development of the exterior design, detailing, and documentation of a new business school building located on a campus with a strong Collegiate Gothic style. This project, for West Chester University, defined my time at the firm, and is the foundation of my knowledge – and furthered my interest in – building exteriors. I took my role further by completing several professional-level physical models, strengthening and emphasizing my position co-leading the office’s model shop. Within this realm, I developed many working models and presentation models that coincided with VMA’s efforts to win clients and produce top-quality spaces through provoking design study.

I also co-led the office’s BIM and technology efforts. While this mostly revolved around my expertise in introducing and aiding in Revit for an office relatively new to the program, I also progressed my understanding and workflows through CAD, not only for efficiency in laser cutting processes and project documentation, but also owning the process for the creation, development, and presentation value of a large campus for a private school client.

Ultimately, Voith & Mactavish furthered my goal of participating in high-end quality design, providing me with access to a phenomenal mentor and appreciation of design at the crossroads of traditional and contemporary.

Notable Projects include:

● Church Farm School, Campus Masterplan – Exton, Pennsylvania
● West Chester University, School of Business and Public Management - West Chester, Pennsylvania
● Germantown Friends School, Campus Code Review - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

MGA Partners, Philadelphia, PA, US, Architectural Designer

I was exposed to many great and diverse experiences at MGA Partners to push forward my career in the profession, mainly focused on institutional and university work. Ranging from all aspects of design from conceptual study through construction documents, I participated in or individually completed projects of ranging magnitude. Most notably, my role on the team for the design development for a performing arts center helped emphasize my documentation ability and solidify my leadership in Revit modeling and processes across the office.

My employment was marked by a fair amount of on-site observation for the University of Pennsylvania, with renovations ranging from a handful of college houses to faculty office spaces. Among other assignments, my work also included the development of fundraising media for a major local outdoor performing arts center, contributions to GSA feasibility studies, presentation work for competitions, and preparing record sets for key office projects.

Notable Projects include:

● Case Western Reserve University, The Milton & Tamar Maltz Performing Arts Center - Cleveland, Ohio
● University of Pennsylvania, Annenberg School Third Floor Renovations - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
● University of Pennsylvania, Mayer Residence Hall Renovations - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Education

Drexel University, Philadelphia, PA, US, BArch, Architecture

Graduating Magna Cum Laude, I earned my degree through Drexel University’s 2+4 Option Architecture Program. Here, I received a comprehensive education with a focus on pragmatism and the technical aspects of architecture, design, and the built environment, in addition to working full-time at multiple acclaimed Philadelphia architecture firms for the final four years of the program. This provided me with a holistic education with academia on one hand and solid real work experience on the other. Additional coursework, outside of the core Architecture curriculum, included a particular interest in Sociology, Digital Design Applications, and Real Estate Development coursework.

For the final year of study as his graduating project, I completed a masterplan and schematic design of a waterfront redevelopment plan for an historic small town in Pennsylvania. The culmination of this project was a study of creating new dense urban spaces in rural settings, building off existing small town cores.
