Located in a dense city block north of Tehran, where having natural light and privacy are a real challenge, the footprint of the building pulls back from its surroundings toward the south and the west to maximize natural light and create more privacy. The project borrows its dominant architectural elements from the historic vernacular of the city’s fabric, super imposed with other contemporary elements in order to create what we call “Tehran Renaissance” . In a city where most contemporary buildings try to find newness by introducing new materials, or typologies, Tehran condos utilizes what’s familiar to the original fabric of the city in a distilled manner. The simple palate on the exterior comprises of a brick volume with dark gray accents that rests on a granite plinth.
