As a part of a public contest, T.H.E Building is a proposed socially-integrated residential complex in West Palm Beach, Florida seeking to elevate urban living. Situated at 8111 Dixie Highway, the project responds to issues like lack of affordable housing, undefined cultural identity, and poor social interaction amidst rapid growth.
The varied volumetry aims to alter the monotonous skyline while communal hubs foster social bonds. Drawing from local modernist traditions, the simple yet adaptable structure accommodates flexible units designed for residents’ changing needs.
Outdoor areas like a central courtyard and canal access promote recreation and community. The open ground floor features amenities to activate the streetscape.
By providing quality, accessible residences and an identifiable city landmark, The Building offers a home to be proud of. Most importantly, through intentional inclusive design, it facilitates community belonging – the heart of any city.
This project represents my vision for housing focused on enhancing life, unity and social integration. The Building aims to create a new model of urban living in West Palm Beach and similar cities.
