Duties:
Produce accurate and detailed CAD drawings – Floor Plans, Elevations, Sections and Details
Produce 3D models using Sketchup for massing studies.
Assist Principals and Project Architect with development of design solutions, research, and selection of colors/finishes/materials.
Prepare client presentation boards, AIA Competition deliverables, and marketing deliverables.
Prepare space plan documents, pricing plan, contract documents and project specifications.
Assist in design phases from Entitlement Phase, Schematic Design, Detail Development, Construction Documents to Construction Administration.
Thoroughly analyze project sites, determine project incentives, establish unit mix and parking requirements, quantify floor area and ratios, verify all zoning requirements, building setbacks, and prepare preliminary building code diagrams.
Experience in working with various agency departments including Planning, Building, Fire, Disabled Access, HCID, NAC, Green, and Transit-Oriented Communities.
Select fixtures, finishes, and products necessary for Pricing Sets, as well as create Finish/Material/Fixtures/Plumbing Schedules.
Comprehensive coordination between the different practices and all aspects of engineering including Civil, Landscape, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and other consultants involved in a project.
Revise and resubmit all Architectural documents in Plan Check phase, and clearly and thoroughly respond to all Plan Check Corrections.
Process and respond to any RFIs, Submittals requested by contractors to formally address any concerns on the project sites, and issue ASIs as required for additional instructions.
Participate in Construction Site Visits and Punch Walks to evaluate work execution of contractors and subcontractors to ensure accuracy and consistency with Construction Documents.
Prepare and submit throughout Construction Site Field Reports.
Participate in weekly Owner/Architect/Contractor (OAC) team meetings as required and prepare weekly project status reports.
Review, evaluate, and translate project design intent and construction budgets, schedules, and costs to guarantee compliance with permitted project scope, timeline, and pricing requirements as per the bidding documents and construction documents.
Review and evaluate Change Orders pertaining to any project adjustments such as additional time and material pricing.
Possess proficient knowledge of buildings codes such as California Building Codes, Cal Green Buildings Codes, and Accessibility Codes and Requirements.
Assist in updating the ever-evolving firm CAD and drafting standards.
Train and mentor junior staff and ensure they have proper guidance in how to execute specific tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
Perform detailed review of project Specifications.
Facilitate communication with and between team members relating to the Construction Administration procedure.
Ensure that the project conforms to the written contract the firm has produced with the client and in accordance with company quality standards and code requirements.
Clearly understand the client’s requirements, including deliverables required for submittal.
Collaborate closely with the Ownership team to clearly incorporate and maintain brand identity, standards, and design into the projects.
