Urban design that integrates recreational and cultural activities as essential elements for reactivating an urban area.
The site is located in a privileged area in Guatemala City, dominated by green and sports areas. The project reinforces the area existing activities, and aims to become an icon of the district as well as the city. The design consists in a set of three buildings surrounding a central space that articulates the project. The result is a fragmented mass that opens to the public space and creates different qualities of space to address diversity of activities present in daily Guatemalan culture. In addition to the permanent and temporary exhibition spaces, the museum includes a school of arts, a library, an auditorium and a sculpture garden.
