Since opening in 1992 as Peter DeWitt Architects, DeWitt Tishman has overseen the design and construction of significant residential and commercial projects for private developers in and around the New York area. Projects completed include one of three buildings for Toll Brother’s City Living Division at the Hudson Tea complex in Hoboken. Construction has begun on a 35 story residential building at 110 First Street in Jersey City for BLDG Management. Completed in 2007 is Grove Pointe, a 29-story 850,000 square foot 525-unit mixed-use project with retail, parking, residential rental and condominium components above the Grove Street PATH Station in Jersey City for SK Properties. Nearby, is the newly completed first phase of Trump Plaza, a pair of 50 story residential towers with over 800 condominium units in the Exchange Place neighborhood of Jersey City. The Sovereign, a 260-unit residential project on the waterfront in Hoboken was occupied in 2006 as the most recent of many projects completed for the Applied Companies. Construction of a mixed use building on Journal Square in Jersey City with 130 residential units, an eight level parking garage for 395 cars and a retail component of 13,000 square feet was completed in spring 2005 for a joint venture team including Harwood Properties and Panepinto Properties. The award winning 333 River Street, occupied in 2002, is a million square foot mixed-use project on the Hudson River in Hoboken with 526 residential units, parking for 600 cars, and 60,000 square feet of retail space. Other recently completed large-scale work includes the 24 story 220 unit Gotham residential building in Jersey City, and the 13 story Constitution, a 250,000 square foot residential and retail building on the Hoboken waterfront. Past projects include a 130 unit residential building in the Downtown Historic District of Morristown, New Jersey, and an 80-unit townhouse development overlooking the Hudson River in North Bergen, New Jersey. The firm received the Palladio Award from Restore Media for the 124 Hudson Street condominium in Manhattan’s TriBeCa West Historic District.
Retail work includes the Furla store in the Madison Avenue Historic District in New York. Completed commercial projects include the gut renovation of an historic 1910 bank building in Hoboken for the Hudson Reporter, a Hudson County newspaper chain, and an extensive reconstruction of a 12,000 square foot commercial building in Hoboken. The firm has also designed showroom space and assisted in several office remodeling efforts.
DeWitt Tishman Architects has completed many highly detailed and distinctive private homes in the tri-state area. Ranging from hilltop estates to urban mansions, these homes reflect the firm's design skills and proficiency in translating their owners' program into distinctive architecture. The firm has designed and completed over twenty major renovations of large Manhattan apartments as well as renovations and additions to houses in Short Hills, New Jersey, Westchester, Sagaponack and East Hampton, New York, and other communities.
