I arrived in Shanghai in March 2005 to fill a position of Senior Design Architect with KF Stone International. The Grigorian Group in Shanghai asked me to join their organization as Design Director and I remained with them until March 2009. The mandatory age retirement for employed foreigners in China is 60, and when the magic number of 70 arrived it became expedient for me to establish a design consultant business in Shanghai to continue to my carreer in architecture in China.
In the Spring of 2009 I was invited to Haikou, Hainan to join a local architectural group as their Design Director/ Senior Architect. This is my present position. I am searching for an opportunity to exercise my experience and design skills to be involved with developments that become a physical realization. I am a little weary of being involved with building designs that become mired in the quagmire of the government design bureaucracy.
The urban landscape of China is still in a constant state of change and there is a need for solid, design professionals to strive for a high level of design.
