This renovation was a minimal, modern insertion into a traditional home. The existing kitchen and adjacent family room did not meet the functional needs of the client’s current lifestyle and were outdated from a finish perspective. The final design brightened the material palette, celebrated the natural light available in the space, dramatically increased the functional space within the kitchen and transformed the large vaulted space into a flexible dining and gathering space for entertaining. The client’s eclectic and more contemporary furniture and art tastes established the precedent for minimal esthetic of the renovation, and provide a common thread for the feel of the home.
