Dear Sir/ Madam,
I completed my RIBA Part 1 BA studies in Kingston University in May 2014, and I am currently seeking for a Architectural Assistant position. I see architecture as the realm where the marriage of artistic beauty and the rational functionality takes place: thus, I enjoy the the process of designing from the conceptualisation to large scale prototype making.
Kingston University’s approach to design and architecture is ‘thinking through making’, a motto which equipped me with an attitude of testing ideas through reiteration of drawings and model making, always considering the possibilities and consequences of materiality and the way materials are perceived and experienced by the users of a building. Above all, I appreciate the model making process as it allows me to see the actual effect of the form, material, scale and most of all, the light.
My studio also did a construction project which required a practical approach to structure, aesthetics and economy of the building. As project manager, I was able to experience thoroughly the importance of teamwork, safety, meeting the deadline as realistic criteria, as well as enhancing my craftsmanship in the workshop and on site. The project was highly appreciated and the studio was awarded Kingston University’s ‘Best studio of the year award’.
Tank you for reading through this personal statement, I hope you will find value in my CV and work examples. I would be delighted if you would consider my intentions for further discussion. Please feel free to contact me for any questions or following up purposes.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours faithfully,
Denis Ismaili
