The deJongh Group, PC, was founded in 1973 by Robert deJongh, AIA, NCARB, and Donna Criner deJongh, AIA, NCARB, CSI, in the Virgin Islands, to engage in the general practice of architecture.
In the more than forty continuous years since, The deJongh Group, has successfully completed a significant body of work. With projects in the Virgin Islands; Atlanta; New York; and Houston; The deJongh Group, has gained a level of professional experience unmatched by most firms. This experience has earned The deJongh Group, several professional design awards.
Robert and Donna deJongh, The deJongh Group’s husband-wife founders, and their professional design team are committed to providing their clients and communities with the best possible projects.
The firm’s consistent goal is to apply extraordinary, creative design to attain imaginative solutions with maximum functionality; highest value; cost effectiveness; greatest aesthetic appeal and of course, to have happy and fulfilled clients and building users.
DeJongh maintains a nucleus professional staff of approximately five talented individuals some of whom have been with the firm for more than 30 years.
The deJongh Group has designed many significant projects such as cathedral reconstructions and restorations, residences, sports and fitness centers, wellness centers, major project master plans, sports complexes and airport master plans and renovations, government centers, courthouses, university buildings, community centers, college academic centers, museums and centers for the arts and many historic preservation and adaptive reuse projects. These buildings have earned several awards for the firm.
A selected group of the Firm’s projects were exhibited at the Institute for Research on the African Diaspora in the Americas and Caribbean (IRADAC) at CUNY, in New York.
The deJongh Group, along with Robert and Donna individually, have made significant contributions to the professional community as well as to the communities at large. Donna and Robert have each served as President of the Virgin Islands Chapter of the American Institute of Architects on several occasions. Currently, Robert is again the sitting Chapter President for a two-year term. Donna serves on the Multi-Cultural Task Force of the AIA National Diversity Committee. Robert serves AIA National on the AIA Documents Committee, a ten-year term.
Both are Registered Architects in The US Virgin Islands, District of Columbia and State of Georgia. Additionally, Donna is registered in the State of Texas.
