Village of Tuxedo Park, Tuxedo, NY, Mayor

David served as Mayor, an elected position, for the Village of Tuxedo Park. A Part-time voluntary office, he continued to run CFA on a day-to-day basis.

The community of Tuxedo Park was developed as a resort in 1885 by Pierre Lorillard IV on property acquired by his grandfather, Pierre Lorillard II in 1790. At that time it became known as Tuxedo Park. The Park is located in the Ramapo Mountains in the town of Tuxedo and adjacent to Harriman State Park.

Peter Lorillard organized the Tuxedo Club and the Tuxedo Park Association, as hunting and fishing preserve, and surrounded the property with a high game fence. This fence marked fairly accurately the present boundaries of the area restricted to use of the residents of Tuxedo Park. The original club house, designed by Bruce Price, was built in 1886. The Shingle style houses Price built at Tuxedo, with their compact massing and axial plans influenced several young architects including Frank Lloyd Wright. Queen Anne architecture with Tudor elements became popular for residences.

In recognition of its historical and architectural significance, the historic district was listed as Tuxedo Park on the National Register of Historic Places on March 13, 1980.

During his term David ended police corruption, had the lowest property tax increase in 15-years, reduced expenses, and improved the Architecture Review Board and Planning Board approval process, while maintaining the historical integrity of the architecture.
