Currently in my second year of Masters at the National School of Architecture of Montpellier in France, I am looking for an internship to complete my degree. I want to gain a stron international working experience, this is why I am applying in foreign countries.
At the National School of Architecture of Montpellier, I learnt how to handle my architectural projects both technically and creatively, from the first sketches to their total completion. I also developed a great interest for Japanese architecture, which creates many innovative architectural responses in a context of lack of space while still keeping strong links with its traditional philosophy. Last year I had the amazing opportunity to do a University exchange near Tokyo for my first year of Master degree. This semester in Japan allowed me to get an in-depth knowledge of Japanese architecture and to immerse myself in a new culture, hence developing my adaptability and communication skills. My 4 years of professional experience, acquired during several successful internships in France and in Japan contributed to fuel my passion for architecture. At Imagine Architecture (Montpellier, France) I collaborated on an architectural competition, realizing 3D models and renderings for the final presentation layouts. In the agency of Mr. Laurent Dufoix (Montpellier, France) I participated in direct relation with the agency's owner at various projects: the design of a facade of an apartments dwelling, the measurements and drawings of the facades of the Montpellier's Temple and the executions of various plans for the renovation of a countryside house. While in Japan, I did two internships. One was at Mikan Gumi (Yokohama, Japan) where I developed my modeling skills and created many 3D models of a department store located in downtown Tokyo. The other one was at OnDesign (Yokohama, Japan), there I was seduced by the close relation that architects must have with clients to design individual housings (some of them have been published in architecture magazines). I worked in team to create many realistic big scale models (1:10, 1:20) of these houses. I also produced several renderings for a City Hall competition where the agency finished amongst the 4 last finalists.
These experiences gave me a strong architectural experience, a lot of maturity and a great capacity to deal with unknown situations, outside of my comfort zone. Therefore, doing my internship abroad doesn't scare me; on the contrary it stimulates me enormously. In addition, I have a very good professional English level (C1 level at the Bulats test), I am open-minded and have an international background: I am half French and half Chinese and lived several years in South Korea. I am also passionate about travels.
Sincerely,
David Lacoque
