Education

University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA, US, Bachelors, Bachelor of Science in Architecture

I acquired a Bachelor of Science in Architecture after four years of studying. This program consisted of multiple architecture studios where students would work collaboratively as well as discuss their individual project process through "deskrits" with their studio section instructors. Most of the student work was done using Rhinoceros 3D and Adobe Photoshop. After multiple revisions and when all the drawings and diagrams were complete, students would have Pin-Ups as well as Mid and Final Reviews where they would plot their work in one or multiple organized large plotting sheets and pin them up for review of their instructors, other architecture instructors, and invited critics. Occasionally required, would be a 3D model of the student/group project, which would be made solely by handcrafting or with the help of laser cutters and 3D printers.

Students were also loosely taught Autodesk Revit in one semester where they studied a part of a building and had to make a personal visit, take measurements, and then translate that into a 3D model in Revit. Similar to this, there were multiple other site visits throughout the architecture program where students were able to learn about certain materials and the way they were used.

I personally took part in the India Study Abroad Program on my second to last Studio, where I visited Delhi and studied a neighborhood near Noor Nagar. My project consisted of a residential/housing complex aimed at improving the quality of life of dwellers in Delhi Slums. A design that had the potential of relocating approximately 70 families of 5-6 members without the need of them moving more than a few hundred feet from their current shanties, keeping them close to their employment, family, and dear neighbors. I also acquired a minor in Urban and Environmental Planning where we used programs like Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as online websites like the Web Soil Survey to study and learn different cities and their individual characteristics/organization when it came to demographics, transportation, landscape, and more, throughout the semester.
