Assistant Professor Matthew Allen recently published a paper in the British design magazine Disegno. His piece The Big Move examines Toronto's upcoming and unprecedented investment in public transit and asks whether branding has come to overshadow the project's true objectives. The article analyzes growth and demographics in Toronto and explores design standards and planning strategies for the entire transit system.
Allen has been busy on this side of the pond as well. Over the weekend, he presented at the 2015 Canadian Science and Technology Historical Association (CSTHA) biennial conference, held at York University. The conference invited papers addressing this year's theme: Science and Technology Across Borders.
