Hello! My name is Daniel Chu. I was born in Sydney, Australia and grew up in Los Angeles and Hong Kong before arriving to San Luis Obispo, CA to study architecture at the California Polytechnic State University. Now, I am residing in the San Francisco Bay Area to discover new design opportunities for my professional career. I am an graduate of architecture but I love all things design and consider myself a designer first. I am a problem solver who finds solutions through the creative process of design.

Beyond International Education, San Luis Obispo, CA, US, Freelance Graphic Designer
Designed and drew original illustrations for the organization’s host family program. The goal was to draw in new host families to take in foreign high school students through recalling one’s emotional attachment to their own family. Additionally, I designed flyers for their upcoming Chinese classes. Completed using the Adobe Creative Suite.
HOK, San Francisco, CA, US, Junior Designer Intern
Worked as an intern with various project groups to refine schematic drawings using AutoCAD, Rhino, and Revit. Crafted 4’x4’ site model using new 3D printing technology and laser cutting. Produced conceptual digital analog renderings for the city using hand sketching, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop. This was for the 4th and Harrison project done for the planning department and client of the proposed tech office building in San Francisco.
Design 2 (HK) Ltd., Hong Kong, HK, Architectural Intern
Worked as a paid architectural intern in charge of designing the facade and producing drawings for the Public Housing project in Shek Mun, Hong Kong. Designer of the typical apartment floors for the three apartment blocks. Including interior materials, finishes, mosaic tile patterns, color scheme, doorbell graphics, etc. Landscape designer for the overhead canopy, walkway, and terracotta feature walls. Worked mostly with Rhino, AutoCAD, and the Adobe Creative Suite.
Archurban, Shenzhen, CN, Architectural Intern
Worked along architects in a professional workplace environment as an architectural intern. Helped in model making and designed the presentation boards for Archurban’s projects. (Summer 2011)
Worked as an assistant for the Singaporean architect Tan Cheng Siong. Learned to communicate with clear and informative graphics. Drawings were produced using Rhino and the Adobe Creative Suite. (Summer 2013)
Really Right Stuff, San Luis Obispo, CA, US, Model Maker
Built a large train model installation for the trade conference in Las Vegas. Worked on creating the landscape, constructing the model buildings, etc. Worked with wood making tools, plaster, paints, etc.
