My name is Cynthia Trefilek and I am a passionate architectural designer currently looking to gain employment in an architecture + design firm that continuously challenges the means of architecture. I define architecture at a multitude of scales from furniture to skyscrapers to installations. I am enthusiastic in concepts of fabrication and creating with techniques in digital manipulation, 3D printing, laser cutting, handcrafting, and model making. I believe that design can change the way we live, work, play, and feel despite the size of the project.
I have a Master of Architecture from the University of Kentucky and I recently graduated in December 2013. I was originally born and raised in Chicago and also have a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the University of Illinois - Chicago. I have experience in all aspects of the design process from schematic design, design development, to construction documents. I also have experience in the production of documents and measurement of as-built / existing hospitals and hotels in the Chicago area as well as in San Francisco and Washington, D.C.
I have had the opportunity to live in other countries such as England and France for two to three months at a time, as well as travel to a variety of places in Europe and all over the US. Traveling is a lifelong passion that has also helped shape who I am as a designer.
