Hello.

I'm Colin Gilliland, a Washington, DC-based designer with attention to fine details, an aesthetic sensibility, and a dedicated work ethic. I believe in researched, site and context-driven architectural design across all scales. A lifetime of passion in all things architecture combined with several years of experience in a design-forward firm have shaped who I am as a designer and how I approach the task at hand.      

I come from a varied, non-traditional academic background that plays a key role in my story. My training in philosophy and theory developed in me a critical eye through which to view the world and all of its structures. During my formal architectural training at the University of Virginia, I specialized in Urban Design and learned how the built environment shapes urban life. My last several years working in DC have been highlighted by repositioning a variety of commercial buildings and giving them new life using the full array of modern design software. My studies and work have brought me to live in and observe the architecture of some of the world’s great cities - Chicago, Paris, London, Washington DC, and Barcelona.

As I continue to develop my skills and grow my career, I look forward to entrenching myself in a dynamic team where I can be motivated and motivate those around me.  I look forward to sharing my knowledge and working to push the boundaries of sustainable, cutting edge design.
