As a creative professional it is my duty to enhance life through art and design. Architecture, fashion, art, and sociology are all things that I enjoy, choosing a career path in interior and furniture design gives me the fulfillment of meshing all of them together. I agree with Florence Knoll who advocated that both [furniture] manufacturers and designers should consider all elements of a space and how they relate to each other.I enjoy designs many facets, they allow not only your imagination to flourish but to be able to make them into tangible experiences.
After studying interior design at Howard University and interning with Knoll International for two consecutive years, I have found my passions to be in interior design, space planning, and definitely dynamic furniture pieces.
On a daily basis I am pursuing a professional career in retail design, exhibition design, and furniture craftsmanship. I refurbish found furniture pieces into treasures that use low budgets for high- end style, in addition to continuing to add to my personal collection of hand-made furniture designs.
Howard University, Washington, DC, US, Bachelors, Interior Design and Planning
This interior design program focused primarily on human skill. We were trained in hand drafting, hand rendering, 2D and 3D sketching. Throughout my tenure I took courses in Residential, Commercial, and Office interior designing complete with history, business, and CAD courses. Our four year program equipped us for real world, hands-on design work in corporate and boutique firms. I am able to work collaboratively with other creatives because our professors allowed us to receive feedback from one another in addition to also delivering constructive criticism.
