The Sandy Lane Golf Resort Clubhouse is one of the premier golf clubhouses in the world, offering world-class service in an elegant environment. The building’s placement at the highest elevation of the championship course was selected as it offers the best views to both the course, especially the 1st and 18th holes, and the turquoise sea beyond as well as allowing cooling tropical breezes to penetrate the public spaces, recalling a traditional strategy used throughout the island. The low horizontal massing and use of indigenous Coral stone as exterior cladding, allows the building to naturally “nestle” into the planned topography. Golfers and visitors will always be aware of their surroundings through the generous placement of large glazed and unglazed openings, as well as a series of large fan shaped skylights in the main lounge. Parking and services are located along the eastern side of the property and hidden from all views from the course to further enhance the golfer’s experience.
The clubhouse occupies 50,000 gsf on two floors, and is organized around a tall crescent shaped arcade and the main lounge/dining area. The southern portion of the arrival level of the clubhouse houses the Member’s lounge, private dining room, golf academy, kitchen and administration/sales offices. To the north one finds the Golf Pro-Shop, with a large curved glass opening to the course, a TV lounge, men’s and women’s lockers/lounge and access stairs to the cart staging area. The basement level contains all back-of-house functions including golf cart storage/maintenance for 130 carts, golf bag storage and service, housekeeping, pro-shop storage, employee canteen and lockers, kitchen services and offices, security office, engineering shop, mechanical/electrical rooms and loading dock functions.
Major building materials are of rendered Coral stone, hand chiseled limestone, honed Italian travertine, Brazilian mahogany window and doorframes, clear Low-E glazing and brushed stainless steel hardware.
