We are delighted to announce that on October 16, the Santa Clara Valley Chapter of the American Institute of Architects presented Cody Anderson Wasney Architects with the 2014 Firm Award at their biennial awards program.

This award recognizes a firm that has consistently produced distinguished architectural design for a period of at least 20 years and that has contributed to the advancement of the profession in at least three of the following areas: architectural design, research, planning, technology, practice, preservation, and innovation. In addition, the award honors a firm that promotes collaboration among individuals; produces work that transcends a specific area of expertise; has a record of community service; and has developed a culture that educates and mentors the next generation of architects.

Now celebrating the firm’s 20th year in business, Chris Wasney and Brent McClure lead the firm of 29 staff members that has evolved into a multifaceted, diverse, grassroots organization with a very energetic team and a vibrant office culture. The growing diversity of projects and socially-sustainable portfolio mirrors the evolution of the firm culture from a classic sole practitioner to a collaborative, highly fluid design studio.

In addition to the Firm Award, the Chapter granted 14 design awards, and three CAW projects were honored: the EcoCenter in Palo Alto's Baylands, an adaptive reuse of a Birge Clark designed boathouse for the Sea Scouts; the d.School at Stanford University--a wholesale renovation of one of the most historic building on campus into a cutting edge design institute; and Volkswagen Automotive Innovation Laboratory--a new building housing all of Stanford's automotive research programs. More information about these projects as well as all of the Design Award winners can be found here.
