As a designer I am searching for the subtle beauty of things. A way to brighten up your life with simple and honest design. All projects start with a research focused on the essence of the location or the object. This essence is translated in a subtle manner in the design. I am a designer who believes in the power of detail and experimenting with different shapes, materials and colours is a standard part of my design process.
Except objects for public space I also design small products. I am always closely involved by the realization process and guide it from start to finish. Since the beginning I work often together with different professions, such as architects and landscape architects. From this cooperation different projects have been realized such as Pop-Up a collaboration with Rogier Martens and Single Scatter furniture for the C-mine square in Genk together with HOSPER.
Apart from my designs I also explore the boundaries of my profession by research. Such as ZaanZapper a research for Transit Oriented Design in the Zaancorridor near Amsterdam or My Way or the Highway a research about private road ownership under the authority of the province Overijssel.
In 2012 Carmela Bogman was nominated for the FrameMoooi award with her design Tumble Seed.
