Maya Glamping

MAYA GLAMPING / explores the relationship between contemporary technology and artisan manufacturing.

The concept uses the ancient Mayan construction techniques re-interpreted to the present day, with a daring and innovative design, which uses materials from the region, artisanal workmanship, care for flora and fauna and the use of clean energy, which favors a re-connection between the island and the visitors.

Digital design and craft manufacturing.

The hut design proposal begins with a raised platform that is supported by columns who are buried in the sand and will withstand the load and stresses of the deck. On the raised platform are generated cement panel walls which vestibule the bedroom, the bathroom and the terrace.

The cover is designed in three layers, the first is the structure that is formed with curved wooden beams, the second is a layer of a regional wooden lattice and the third layer is the use of dry palm that waterproofs and protects the inside.

The curved design prevents water from getting stagnant on the ceiling and not seeping in. The average height of 4 meters and the wooden walls genres allow hot air to circulate and refresh the
room.

"We seek in the project a chance for reconnect with the ancestral construction techniques reinterpreted by the digital process" - Edgar Ayar, principal of Capital Haus | Architecture.
