By proposing an architectural solution for the hydrological issues that confront revitalization of the Los Angeles River, we begin to activate the river’s critical adjacencies. Currently, the River suffers from severe contamination inflicted by runoff from industrial sites; containing pollutants such as heavy metals, nitrates, oil, and trash. If we envision our buildings as prosthetic extensions of a much larger system, we can begin to solve insurmountable issues at a smaller scale. This thesis translates the act of water reclamation into a series of architectural prescriptions.
