“The concept of reincarnation is a theme recurrent across several cultures’ theological and spiritual beliefs. From Samsara to Moksha in Hinduism and through the ten spiritual realms of Buddhism, the act of an entity being reborn exists as a literal passage through the gates of evolution. Despite its strong ties to religion, the concept’s presence can be uncovered in several facets of our world’s progress, as in the transformation of manufacturing during the industrial revolution or in the explosive diversification of creative expression during the famed European Renaissance of the 14th to 17th centuries. The cultural virus that has infect the city of Miami in the past decade has led to the rise of art-driven concepts and has drawn the attention of designers, architects, and overall creators from all corners of our globe, whose presence has helped in the development and enrichment of Miami’s cultural personality. The Young Artist Initiative aims to celebrate and encourage this creative spirit by instilling “Renaissance” as the conceptual base of its next installation. All participating artists have been presented with the challenge of addressing the cultural rebirth occurring in the city of Miami and consider its effects and ramifications on the identity of our city. Their performances and installations will exist as reflections of their individual interpretations on the matter, expressed through each of their iconic aesthetics and methodologies."
