The design proposal for Sappi, as new tenant in the Unilever building in Umhlanga, now known as 15 on Nollsworth Crescent. The façade design proposal derives from the current branch-like column structure, supporting the current Unilever roof. The perforated white façade cladding complements the design concept, with it’s branch and tree shape cut-outs. From uniform circular perforations, to branch and tree pattern cut-outs, through to three-dimensional forms, the perforated aluminium gives depth, texture and intrigue to the façade. This allows for maximum light into the existing office space and visibility from the inside to the landscaped gardens. The polished concrete floors, with its flowing lines towards the entrance, makes approaching the building more appealing as it eases into the main entrance lobby.
The new façade design is a modern clean-cut design that allows for a strong branding potential for Sappi, as new Tenant in the new 15 on Nollsworth Crescent building
