    The presentation of the results

    The International Summer School "The City and the Water. Architecture, arts and self-construction experiences: the regeneration of the Two Lakes artisan area in Pietrasanta" is going to start.

    The Summer School sees the collaboration of: the “2 Luoghi” group of artists and artisans, Verd&Agricoltura Studio Associato (Pisa), Agrario by Riccardo Rio and Livegreen Blog. Floornature, the international portal of architecture created by Gruppo Iris Ceramica in 2011, is also an important media partner of the event.

    The organizers of the Summer School are the University of Pisa, in particular the Master Degree Course in Architectural Engineering (DESTeC, School of Engineering), the CAV Visual Arts Center and the Municipality of Pietrasanta, with the contribution of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca.The Summer School (7-20 September) will be held at the CAV and at the “Due Laghi” Artisan Area in Pietrasanta. Students of Architecture, Engineering, Design and Art Academies will work together on the recovery of urban spaces in Versilia, and in particular of the “Due Laghi” artisan area, characterized by a high environmental and landscape value, actually occupied by several arts and crafts activities, but hit by a sharp decline.

     

    Students will be guided by the architect Santiago Cirugeda (Recetas urbanas, Seville), scientific director of the Summer School, and will work in close collaboration with the artists and artisans of the "2 Luoghi". The director of the Summer School is prof. Roberto Pierini, president of the Master Degree Course in Architectural Engineering at the University of Pisa. Among the guest lecturers, the artists Paolo Ulian and Andrea Salvetti, and the architect Alessandra Capanna, professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Università La Sapienza in Rome.

    The sponsors of the Summer School are: Graniti Fiandre, leader company in the field of architectural surfaces and main sponsor of the Summer School; Bcc Banca di Credito Cooperativo della Versilia Lunigiana e Garfagnana, the Fondazione D’Angiolo and Varia Versilia Ambiente.

    Other important sponsors of the event, which have given their sponsorships in form of materials, are: Sto Italia, Bacci Marmi Pescarella, Be.Ma Srl Autonoleggi and La Vela Costruzioni.

     

    The presentation of the results will be open to the public on September 19, at 6 pm at the “Due Laghi” Artisan Area (loc. Vecchiucchio) in Pietrasanta.

The Summer School, that will take place from 7th to 20th September 2015 at the Visual Arts Center, will see students in Architecture, Engineering, Design, Art Schools and young professionals
