As a final phase of public waterfront improvements, a new beach house facility will sit on Lake Erie, reclaiming a stretch of lakefront for the public. The beach house is layered with an open public level on top, a public/private level with a restaurant and municipal service functions in the middle, and a utility level with paddle craft rental and support functions that can sustain wave runup conditions at the bottom. Tiered outdoor public spaces reinforce the form and function of the building with a lake view patio on the top level with bar access, a picnic terrace on the middle level with public amenities, and a convenient connection to the waterfront trail and paddle craft beach on the lower level. Phased improvements for a new upland park will be underway in 2023 to support the future beach house with vehicular access, public parking, underground utilities, and a multi-modal trail down to the waterfront.
