The client had purchased a traditional pre-war apartment and wanted to convert it into a modern, loftlike open space. All partitions were removed to make the space open and interconnected and to maximize light. Floor level changes and partial walls provide privacy and separate spaces. The bathroom and closets were collected into a single enclosed volume with a high-gloss finish. The shower occupies a glass corner that provides an interior focal point and light source. The intercom, which could not be relocated, was instead turned into a sculptural object, wrapped in a clear-coated steel enclosure.
