The Crematoriums of Mauthausen

The exhibition is a compact installation with three overlapping information levels. At the top, theme pictures and headings offer an introduction to the core themes that can be seen a few metres away. In this way, visitors can obtain an initial overview and then return to those subjects that particularly interest them.

On the middle small-format documents provide information in greater depth. Presented on eye level the details and texts in the pictures and photo documents are easily legible. The loose, seemingly random arrangement of the texts on the bottom level invites visitors to pick out individual themes and to choose texts from a number of “sheets”.

The modular and dismountable tubular steel and black-coated chamfered sheet metal structure is clamped to the exposed concrete walls, splaying out towards the ceiling and floor. Glass elements and a sill are screwed onto the tubular steel supports by means of U-shaped brackets. The strip lighting is mounted in protruding brackets at the top of the supports.
