Our first project in Athens is a landmark scheme with stunning views to the Acropolis, on a prominent corner site on Leoforos Syngrou, a major thoroughfare linking the city centre and the seafront. Designed by us and Divercity Architects for award-winning Greek developer Dimand, the Syngrou Avenue Office Buildings will consolidate a new commercial and cultural destination together with neighbouring Hellenic General Insurance HQ and the cultural centre Onassis Stegi.

A pair of eight storey buildings with an eye-catching sculpted roofline, clad in white marble louvres at varying angles, will provide 15,600 sqm of the highest quality workplace with a lush courtyard garden for work breaks, socialising, and outdoor events. A contemporary reinterpretation of traditional design themes, such as ‘stoa’ and ‘peristyle’, constructed with Greek marble, generates an intrinsically Athenian architecture. 

The project targets LEED Gold and focuses on passive measures re-evaluated for the local climate, comprising generous shading and green roofs to reduce cooling loads and operational energy, while enhancing biodiversity and promoting health & wellbeing. A Life Cycle Assessment to evaluate and reduce the buildings’ embodied carbon will determine the use of materials that are locally sourced or contain a high percentage in recycled content. Completion is expected by early Spring 2022.
