The Gallery House is a home that embodies the personality and passions of its owners. Carefully designed and crafted, each space tells a story, weaving together the warmth of timber, the neutrality of whites, and the raw allure of polished concrete to form a layered, gallery-like interior that celebrates art and sculpture.
At its heart, the living and dining area serves as a central hub where friends and family can gather. Carefully curated to showcase a collection of paintings, sculptures, and bespoke furniture, this space exemplifies craftsmanship and attention to detail. Drawing inspiration from the clean lines and practicality of mid-century modern design, the materials and finishes create an atmosphere that is both inviting and unpretentious, exuding warmth and individuality.
The design features a bespoke timber and blackened steel fireplace, which subtly divides the living and dining zones. Complementing this is a wine and bar area, framed by steel-framed glazed doors and enveloped by rich timber joinery, offering a cozy, focal space for entertaining and connection.
The living areas seamlessly extend outdoors, where a sunken fire pit with built-in seating invites gatherings under the open sky. This thoughtful outdoor space strengthens the connection to the surrounding alpine landscape, making the home feel grounded in its environment.
Externally, the residence is composed of two gabled, barn-like structures clad in cedar and metal tray, with the adjoining garage clad in locally sourced schist stone. The sloping site informed the design’s split-level layout, with polished concrete steps leading visitors from the entry into the heart of the home.
The Gallery House celebrates art, connection, and the surrounding landscape.
