RICHMOND, VA (November 5, 2013) – If you think healthcare facility design doesn't factor into patient satisfaction, think again. Baskervill's Vice President of Healthcare, John Michael Currie, FAIA, FRSPH, will present a game-changing panel discussion on design changes in ambulatory care centers at Architecture Exchange East on November 8 in Richmond, Virginia. Currie will be joined by Phillip Gentry, P.E., of Valley Engineering to present "The Catalyst for Change: Ambulatory Facility Design in a Reforming Health System."

Both Currie and Gentry will share their views on how healthcare reform is affecting ambulatory care centers in the United States, including their thoughts on the best practices for how to plan and design these facilities with a focus on patient safety, therapeutic environments, and environmentally responsible design.

Currie's presentation will also share top strategies for delivering well-designed, efficient facilities using lean planning practices.

Architecture Exchange East is the mid-Atlantic's largest educational event for the architecture industry, with more than 60 educational sessions. Other speaking engagements for Currie this year include AIA's DesignDC conference and the Virginia Society of Healthcare Engineers Annual Conference.

Baskervill's growing healthcare portfolio includes: the Augusta Pediatric Clinic and the HOPE Clinic at UVA Medical Park Augusta in Fishersville, Virginia; New Horizons Healthcare Clinic in Roanoke, Virginia; term contracts for the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, Virginia and the McGuire Veteran's Affairs Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia; VCU's Baird Institute for Vascular Health in Richmond, Virginia; VCU's Gateway Building in Richmond, Virginia; and over 40 Patient First outpatient clinics throughout the Mid-Atlantic.
