Baharash Architecture have been selected to design a new “Panoramic” villa typology in one of the most exclusive addresses in the United Arab Emirates.
The London based studio was approached by one of the oldest families in the country, after winning the design for the phase 2 of Dubai Sustainable City. They were tasked to design a 6 bedroom villa, which included accommodation and facilities for guests and staff.
Baharash Bagherian, Design Director of Baharash Architecture, described the project as a unique opportunity for demonstrating BA’s ability to develop creative solutions at a smaller scale. “One of the key challenges of the project was to provide panoramic views from every bedroom and key living areas, whilst also providing variation of outdoor spaces within the plot. The constraints and opportunities of the site created a very unique design that will enhance the experience of residents and guests with nature”.
The Villa is located in the heart of Saadiyat Beach Golf Views, which is the only oceanfront championship golf course in the region.
The golf course provides a natural habitat for a variation of wildlife, and the villa aims to bring the residents closer to it by blurring the boundaries between the two landscapes.
Baharash Bagherian describes how sustainability was also a key driver for the planning of the villa. “The planning and configuration of the villa was designed to maximise shading, whilst elevated gardens provided passive cooling to accommodations below. Our landscape approach was to use native plants and trees which create a natural desert-like ambience and require less water than lawns.”
The project is scheduled for construction in May 2015.
