bad architects group is a young international practice with its headquarters in Innsbruck, Austria, led by Ursula Faix. The portfolio of the office encompasses all areas of design, from the urban scale to interior design. Of central concern to the practice is a simultaneous engagement in practice (PROJECTS), teaching (TEACHING) and urban research (LABS).
Prior founding bad architects group, Ursula Faix gained project and management experience from working at e.g. Massimiliano Fuksas in Rome. From 2007-2011 bad architects group held a visiting professorship for urban planning at the University for Business and Technology in Prishtina, Kosovo and is a permanent lecturer at the Institute for Urban Design and Regional Planning at the University of Innsbruck. Moreover bad architects group is embedded in an international network of planners (bad-architects.network).
Next to designing classical architectural projects like „Stadterke Areal“ (multiuse urban development project) or „block°”(housing project), bad architects group is researching on influences of media based representations of the city and its influences on its physical reality. Examples are projects like “DE-tro-IT”, a Shrinking Cities project (with bad-architects.network), “The POWER of the UNESCO World Heritage”, a project for the 3rd Architectural Biennale in Rotterdam or “Urban Debris. Operation Haparanda”, a project developed for the Architecture Triennale in Oslo in 2007 (with bad architects.network).
With this multi-layered background in urban planning, projects are considered as urban development projects more than pure real estate projects. bad architects considers itself not as a mere service provider purveying its clients with exceptional design skills and professional experience but also as a responsible agent in the urban development.
