Sonoran Pentapus. s-cape

The Sonoran Pentapus S-cape pavilion redefines the west entrance of University of Arizona Capla building and includes a gridshell structure funded by the Social Sciences and Humanities Resource Council of Canada.  The project is a multi-year student design build pavilion made up of the lightweight grid structure, custom designed outdoor furniture, steel planters and concrete benches, as well as creating new circulation paths to strengthen the relationship between the CAPLA building and the heavily used Olive rd. Underpass.
The gridshell team of the class of 2017 adopted the project during the final building and development stage, requiring students to research work done by the previous class and modify drawings to accommodate the current stage of the building process.  My immediate duties were to design and manage signage on the site which included multiple reviews with CAPLA staff and donors as well as working closely with Proios Sandblasting and Engraving.  Additional responsibilities included grading the site, particularly the extension of the Underwood Garden located on the east side of the CAPLA building, installing steel planters, and various tasks needing completion on a day to day basis.
