The purpose of this building is to capture the essence and sheer beauty of Mou Shan village located in rural China. It is designed so that visitors can have a location to stay and observe the tranquility of the village. There are three main towers which surround a central dance/performance space. Each tower has a different height, where each block serves as accommodation. The towers have staircases on the outside connecting floors and each tower is connected by external platforms and stairs which are supported by coloured columns. These colours represent the traditional clothes of the villagers of Mou Shan whereas the tall columns mirror the wooden trees on the hillside behind the building.
