This project is an addition to a classical mid-century-modern residence, built to designs for Better Homes and Gardens Five Star Home #2807 from 1958. The house has remained in the family of the original owner and is now being reinterpreted for contemporary needs. A simple new volume hovers over the carport and is designed to complement the proportions and horizontal orientation of the original. During the design of this project, several balances needed to be maintained, including mid-century versus contemporary elements and materials; and the original open floor plan versus the need for privacy.

For this project I produced plans, sections, and detail drawing for the constructions set, as well as visualizations of the addition.
